letsly sent: idk if you could answer this but could you describe what greggory, qatu, dartak, swift, ala, adolfus, and thomas smell like?

Gregg smells like chemicals. That stingy formaldehyde kind of smell, with a touch of strong herby stuff. Also the smell of the streets. If he walked by, you’d probably smell it.

Qatö probably doesn’t smell like anything otherworldly, though sometimes after using his element he does smell distinctly like burning stuff.

Dartak smells like someone who goes outside a lot (not sweaty but that strong leafy kind of smell).

Swift smells like someone who lives outside a lot and adventures. And that probably entails smelling like mud and dirt and dried blood and sweat. Wonderful.

Ala smells like the sea.

Ado smells of perfume, of varying sorts. She probably smells very clean, of her soaps and such.

Thomas smells like dust and shame.

verhkrys sent: How does the pride/arrogance of some of your characters manifest? Do they boast or settle for quiet superiority? Does it change depending on the circumstances/subject?

Qatö doesn’t show it much in other places, but he can be rather arrogant when doing Yonsa-Qän work. Particularly in the heat of taking down a gän he can get horrendously, I guess, controlling? and he takes control of the situation mostly so he can end it with his own hands. Taking down gän makes him feel Good about himself. He doesn’t express this vocally, though he does get all up in people’s faces about it. Like literally, if someone else start’s boasting he literally stands over them and stares at them. (On the other extreme, he feels absolutely shitty about his assignments with the Yonsa-Qän and visits with them usually end up with a lot of HIGHS from the assignment itself, followed by a crash full of moping and self-hatred.)

However, killing other things (on assignment or not), doesn’t bring out quite a high in him. He tends to be very respectful about killing things (and death in general) in any other case.

verhkrys sent: Do you have an AUs for any of your characters/settings that have become a little more developed (instead of a passing thought)?

Well. Say hello to how Aly and I started roleplaying. Most, or maybe all the OCs by certain extension, sprung from that.

Qatö (everyone’s going to get tired of this douche very quickly, oh my god I’m sorry) coming back as Dartak’s ilnari was a side thing I had been working on for a time, and I set up a bunch of his basic character that way. And then I decided to actually do it and make it canon, cause I liked it a lot.

There’s another AU where the roles are reversed and Qatö is Dartak’s elnari.

Once, a long time ago, I was itching to do something with aliens so I made a pet project of, wait for it, Artye in space. Please don’t ask.

phantomeus sent: I REALLY ENJOYED ANSWERING THAT QUESTION EVEN THOUGH I WAS ALL OVER THE PLACE SO I'M GOING TO STEAL IT FOR YOU; Do any of your characters believe in the supernatural? Would any of them try to summon, communicate with, or find evidence of the supernatural?

17/june/12

Look at these cool ass questions. Why have they gone unanswered?

He does go around ghost hunting in the first place, his attunement with the death aspect making him a little sensitive to death (places of heavy death, places with dead things like graveyards, hospitals, people who are close to death, etc). It’s not something very active or strong right now, but he can strengthen his abilities.

Even before he knew of Qatö in this life, he was always curious about the OTHER WORLDLY and he wanted to see if there were ways to connect to them, but he’s never had access to any techniques that don’t make him scoff. Now with Qatö around, HE KNOWS THEY’RE REAL and he’s excited to work on them more and feels the things his ilnari feels around death.

Other than ghost hunting, he has done other things to try and prove the existence of ilnari, like leaving offerings at talkstones (which are small shrines, tributes to local ilnari) but he hasn’t gotten much from that.

He wouldn’t want to summon other spirits against their will (and while ilnari did display this feature originally, it was omitted during a major re-haul. They can only be summoned by their respective Gods, though there are methods to go around this [using things similar to how elementals can be summoned and bound to tasks], but this are NOT recommended and it can get you in major trouble with the Gods), but he’d like to meet more ilnari of death, and is amazed and a little excited at the possibility of him being an ilnari himself one day.

letsly sent: this has probably been asked before but do any of your characters have addictions? like drugs, alcohol, things like that. if so, do they still use? have they been in any sort of rehab? if so, how did that go?

Do medicinal drugs count? Dartak is quite dependent on his meds, though he hates this and wishes he could go without them.

There’s also Qat’s energy dependance, and his need to draw energy away from others or… he dies, basically.

I don’t really have OCs with ‘addictions’. Whoops.

verhkrys sent: If some of your characters were to look into the Mirror of Erised what would they see? (Or just the characters you've pottermore-ified, whichever you want.)

21/apr/12

Remember when we all Pottermore’d with our OCs. And Dartak and Veene were Gryffindorks and you totally (jokingly) called out Veene’s results and it was wonderful.
Did I even have any other characters Pottermore’d?? I DON’T REMEMBER. But thinking about Dartak as I had him then and how he is now I’m like holy shit this totally makes sense.

Anyways,

Dartak would look in and see an older version of himself, maybe in another life (and if it was in another life he would recognize himself), maybe not. He’s looking healthy and content, in what appears to be a cafe, speaking with someone off frame.

Artye would see himself in a family owned meatshop, with Allie and more kids scurrying about.

Qatö’s results prompt him to smash his fist into the mirror. Not cool, bro. (t probably said, ‘Reply hazy, ask again later’. Not, but really, it’s a hazy fog of junk that distorts his form.)

Gregg’s image pictures him in a home, somewhere off and safe and tucked away, probably with Akemi. It’s a nice home with space for his pets and a little garden for his plants.

letsly sent: hi i know it isn't sunday yet but i wanted to ask everyone this question before i forgot. HOW DO GREGGORY, DARTAK, ADOLFUS, THALDIE, CHARLES, SWIFT, THOMAS, ARTYE, AND ANY OTHERS YOU'D LIKE TO INCLUDE HANDLE INTIMACY WITH OTHER PEOPLE? Either romantic or just getting close to people in general. Does it embarrass them? Do they enjoy it?

12/feb/12

oh gods, I’ll try to answer this for those old peeps. Try.

Greggory is very careful not to get close/intimate with people at all. Like at all. He tries to avoid people as much as possible in the first place, mostly out of paranoia that everyone will figure out some way to hurt him. And he doesn’t try to hide this at all, he’ll very much make it known that NO, he doesn’t want to talk and get the hell away. Anything physical is even worse for him, he tends to try and avoid all sorts of contact with other people and being touched generally results with him lashing out violently and then running. Relationships and trusting people with his feelings do not appeal to him at aaaall, he has a tough time dealing with his feels with Akemi as it is.

Adolfus loves getting touchy with her friends. As long as it’s a good friend, anyways, so improper to just feel up on someone you know. As long as it’s someone she enjoys to be around, she loves getting intimate and close to them.

Dartak gets very much possessive over anyone he has some sort of positive relationship with. In this life, he tends to be very guarded of being touched by others (but he can touch others AS MUCH AS HE WANTS) if he doesn’t know them that well but once he does get to know them more he’ll get VERY TOUCHY. He loves cuddles and sleeping with others. As far as relationships go, he does enjoy relationships. As long as it’s with Roseyposey. Otherwise he’s not very interested.

Tahl is a big hunk of rock right now.
Anyways, he’s way too arrogant and completely full of himself to accept a consort of any sort. Heck, he’s too arrogant to accept ilnari. If he was in a relationship he’d be one of those dicks to turn everyone down after a while. As fall as touching goes, nobody knows.

Swift is somewhat untrusting of others to let them get too close. Sometimes she has weird bouts of showing off her bod PROUDLY and letting people creep up on her, but you’d have to catch her in that mood. Otherwise, she’d think it a threat if someone started getting to close and she’d ELBOW THEIR FACE IN. As far as romance goes, she’s not very interested (she’d probs get embarrassed if someone decided to express interest in her openly - for the other person, anyways).  She sees relationships as things that weigh her down. Doesn’t stop her from having a few sexual flings here and there, though.

Thomas doesn’t quite understand relationships and is just content with having friends. I feel he’s aromantic, maybe. Sex isn’t much his thing either. Tommy would be okay just having friends, but relationships that go further don’t scare him. More so, he’s not sure what he can really offer back to the other person.

Artye LOVES PEOPLE. He’s very comfortable with relationships of any sort (well, as long as they’re healthy), and physical contact is alright with him too. With people that he knows he tends to be touchy for emphasis, he’s poke and nudge at the other person while talking to make points. Depending on who he’s dealing with, he can stay respectfully distant or too close for comfort in order to see what makes them tick, or what doesn’t. He’s very much comfortable slipping into relationships of all sorts, as long as the other person is COOL. He tends to dig himself into his children’s relationships as well, he don’t want no crazy people getting involved with his kids! Physical intimacy is k for him too.

Qatö has a tough time with relationships. Part of him is like, NEED. PEOPLE. The other part is like OH GODS NO, NOT PEOPLE (and this may be shown through anxiety or just closing himself like a rock. Occasionally, with enough pushing, he’ll fight people off). Mostly it’s the talking. He doesn’t like talking (but he sure likes it when others talk), and tends to close himself off from makin relationships with others (save for when Dartak introduces him to others, then he may show interest). Physical intimacy is a yes (sometimes™). Qatö loves nothing more than shutting up and doing physical things with another person, whether it be fighting or cuddling or sex or dancing, he loves expressing things in that way a lot more (sometimes™).

Qatö leaned forward after Veene pulled his pants away, placing his hands on his shoulders and staring at the djinni Very Seriously. “Why is your penis gone?

verhkrys sent: And I want to hear moooore about who Qatu has been close to in the past and what the deal was with the fire-elemental and all that jazz. I WANT TO KNOW.

I can say that he’s had several relationships with other ilnari. I can also say many of them ended with Qat absorbing the other ilnari.

The fire sutot’s name was Skoe. They were one of the first relationships Qat had as an ilnari. They didn’t get too personal but Qat ended up accidentally eating them (he didn’t get the hang of this whole feeding thing down and he basically absorbed the entire ilnari into himself). Since then his firepowers have been a little more effective and he’s able to use them without spending ridiculous amounts of energy.

Sodhagagi was a life/earth ilnari that Qat had a rather weird relationship with. Sodh was a gan in disguise and lured Qat in for a while before trying to eat him via forcing himself into his body and basically eating him from the inside by breaking his being down with plants (kinda like cordyceps). Qat, at this point having absorbed several other ilnari and being more powerful than your average death ilnari, let this go on for a while until it started getting dangerous for him and he ATE HIM. He keeps the name he gave him, Sidhadi, because he finds it cute. Sodh did show some genuine interest in Qat’s mask making (or so he likes to think) and so he uses it as his signature with his masks).

Alanat is an ilnari he was particularly close to (they were mentioned before in rp, I think), he doesn’t like to talk about them but I’m writing this down for record-keeping. Things were fine for a which but this eventually lead to stuff that made Qat wary of getting too close to people again.

Saisimal is the closest person Qat has been to and they were his his ilnari. They had a mentor/student relationship at first, but they began to buddy up more as time went on. Qat regrets not taking him more seriously and is still trying to find him again.

There’s a lot more but Qat’s getting touchy with details and other mentioning so I’ll stop here. Thanks for askin’ buddy.

verhkrys sent: Besides lonely (I think it was?) how does Dartak feel about his ilnari MAKING A FRIEND (snack fran)? And how does Dartak feel about the trip he's on? Where do he and Rosey plan on going and why? (or was their drop-off destination their only destination?)

Snack fran is also a cute term.

Dartak is trying to act apathetic but he’s insanely jealous and keeps prying at Qatö for information and eats away at Qat’s thoughts when he can after he comes back from interactions with Veene. But yeah he’s also a lot more bored without Qat around to teach him stuff again.

About the trip, he’s really FASCINATED. Both him and Ilrosos are both realizing how closed off they were from the rest of the world and how much they really just don’t know. Mostly they’re road tripping around aimlessly, but they like stopping at historical sites and museums to gorge themselves on more information. They’re hanging around Germany for the most part.

Thanks fer aaaaskin’, Ariel-ma.

phantomeus sent: oh my god i'm so horrible and part of me just really wants to ask you to tell me about qatö's tentacle

image

translation: GOODNESS! ASK ME MORE, YES?

Qat has a long as hell tentacle that he uses in place of a penis/vagina (because it can act as both, he can retract the entire thing and leave something LIKE a vagina, and obviously use the tentacle as a penis). It varies in length, but he likes to keep it long because he loves keeping his partners close during sex. No matter what position he’s in, he’ll manage to find some way to wrap it around the other person and pull them in all close and snug. :3c

Which is cute and all until you have several rounds of it wrapped around you and then your sex ends up looking like this:

image

Pictured: Qat and a ‘partner’.

It used to be a solid shiny colour and then Ariel came along and Pimped My Tentacle™ so now it’s all striped and snazzy. I think things are better this way.

I think that’s all there is to really say about it. THANKS FOR ASKING, BEST QUESTION ALL NIGHT.

phantomeus sent: How would you describe the relationship/the interactions between Dartak and Qatö? How did those interactions start?

You know, I really don’t know.

I can reveal part of how most of it began. I have gone on before when Qat and Qo met. Dartak, throughout his lives, has always kept something particularly constant in his personality; he’s both very, very bossy (despite being mute for most of his lives, he still got this idea across rather effectively), and very, very possessive. In most lives, he’s lacked strong parental figures or just ditches his birth family once he meets Qatö once again. Then they just travel around, and Qat spends a lot of time teaching Dartak about the death aspect from the very beginning.

I have no idea whether past-lives Dartak sees Qat as a possession or a friend. As mentioned before in the post I just linked, they also had sex and Qodhas managed to dominate Qat basically all of the time. (not that it matters much to Qat; sex is sex. But it matters a TON to Qo, which Qat does find rather amusing).

I want to say that Qo cared for him as a friend but if I think about it really hard, it’s less of ‘i care because ur my fran <3’ and more of ‘i care because you’re something of worth to me- JUST LIKE THAT BOOK OR THAT GOAT OVER THERE’. Dartak (current Dartak) is the first life that Qat has felt truly cared for as a friend by Qo, which is a big relief to him because Qo has shown some of this behavior in the past, but amongst his constant BOSSING and FUSSING it’s hard to tell.

Unlike past relationships, Qat isn’t able to just get rid of Dartak as he’s done before, since he could potentially be destroyed by his god for messing with a potential ilnari. Plus, he sort of doesn’t want to. In some way, Dartak is precious to him, despite his old life’s habits of using him and treating him like muck.

They’re really good and healthy people, you see.

Thanks for asking, Phannum. uwu
